Persona
Individuality which is hidden under our solid beautiful face is not always as a whole as the mask that covers it. Feeling how different we are from the thing called the ‘common norm’ we do not always find the strength to accept our own difference. We break off certain pieces of our individuality and hide them behind a reflection of generally accepted norm, copying it. By doing this we lose our wholeness and specialness. It happens unnoticed, under the cover of the whole bodily image that we present from the outside. We replace our own desires and values with conventional ones and we do it by ourselves. It happens that we look at ourselves through the eyes of other people, evaluating ourselves by the reaction of others. By looking into this mirror, we can see, at least in the form of a metaphor, what is hidden under the mask.
This work is an homage to Ingmar Bergman's film "Persona" and it has the same title.
